Mr. Vanni Tonso
A FAMILY STORY
Cashmerefine was founded in the 80s in Biella, Italy’s capital of the textile industry, by Mr. Vanni Tonso. At that the very beginning it was a trading company specialized in raw materials, particularly cashmere. Mr. Tonso was a pioneer in the discovery and promotion of cashmere in Europe.
At that time, when it was far from easy, he was among the firsts to travel from Italy to the Gobi Desert, where the best cashmere comes from. He builded a network of relationships with local herders and producers and imported this precious raw material into Europe, where it was sold to the most important spinning mills.
After half century, the supply of raw material is still based on the relationships built by Mr. Vanni decades ago.
CASHMEREFINE
In the 90s Massimiliano, Vanni’s first son, took over the company very young from his father and had the strategic view of adding to the raw material trading, a new line of business, fully vertically integrated, starting from the same top-quality fibers traded, but arriving until the final garment, keeping in-house all the steps of the process.
At first, the knitwear production focused only on pure cashmere in the first owned factory in China. Later, the company expanded to include all natural fibers and adding also new production facilities in Italy and Tunisia.

Today, the company is still led by Massimiliano Tonso and he continues the family legacy with the same passion and commitment to quality that have defined the company since its beginnings.
Cashmerefine keeps trading the finest raw materials and at the same time develops and produces knitwear collections for some of the most important fashion brands in the world, as well as private label lines for leading international retailers.
